FIRST BABA ISA UNIVERSITY OF SUCCESS

ABOUT THE UNIVERSITY

First Baba Isa University Of Success is a system, a program, a pattern, a technique, a strategy rather than a school. It is designed to meet the demands of education in the Information age, it is designed to impart and equip people with life lessons that will inspire, challenge and cause them to succeed.

The FBI University Of Success is structured and designed unlike the traditional school system. In FBI we have participants [called ICONS] not students, we have mentors not teachers/lecturers, we have discussions and role plays not lectures. Our participants talk and are active, they do not sit still and quite; our mentors and discussions are fun, not boring; our mentors are people who have succeeded in the area they are mentoring us on, not an accounting lecturer whose family does not have a budget or a Business Administration lecturer who has never run a business.

In FBI instead of teachers grading the students, the Icons [that is participants or members of the university] will grade the Mentors; instead of lecturers failing students to prove that their courses are difficult and they are intelligent, Mentors must make sure that Icons get what they, the mentors, are imparting and succeed with it or they will be dropped from the Faculty of Mentors. In FBI, the success of the Icons is proof of the intelligence of the Mentor, Period.

Educational background, age, sex, colour or religious affiliations is no barrier. Participants will not compete on tests or exams; they will rather cooperate on teams. In FBI we will celebrate life achievements not paper qualifications. We will encourage participants to compete in teams rather than individually, if an individual must compete let him do so with his previous achievement and better it. Instead of striving for grades we will strive for life’s rewards and awards.

THE RATIONALE
We have watched the school system over the centuries and wondered how it all began. Who bestowed upon us this system? Who designed this system where we go to learn discoveries of people who didn’t have to go to school to discover those discoveries? Who designed a system where we have to go learn about the Law of Gravity that Newton discovered sitting under a tree? Who brought this system that treats the human mind like a container to be filled rather than as a material to be set ablaze?

We are not the first to question this system. Many before us had had cause to believe this system of traditional schooling was suspect and inimical to human advancement. The list is inexhaustible and there were no mere men. Listen to some of them:

“I am always ready to learn, but I do not always like being taught.” –Winston Churchill.

“The founding fathers in their wisdom decided that children were an unnatural strain on their parents. So they provided jails called school, equipped with tortures called education.” – John Updike.

“Education is the state-controlled manufactory of echoes.” – Norman Douglas.

“School days, I believe, are the unhappiest in the whole span of human existence. They are full of dull, unintelligible tasks, new and unpleasant ordinances, and brutal violations of common sense and common decency.” H.L. Mencken.

“You cannot teach a person anything; you can only help him find it within himself.” – Galileo.

“I never let schooling interfere with my education.” – Mark Twain.

“There is too much education altogether, especially in American schools.” – Albert Einstein.

And needles to remind us that the persons quoted above were super successes in their different endeavours. Infact we now have to study some of them in school to earn a living!

Most of us can pretend about it now, but the truth is that we hated school. We absolutely hated being forced to sit and listen to someone we did not particularly like or respect speak for months on a subject we had no interest in. We fidgeted, squirmed, and caused problems at the back of the classroom, unless we just left instead of going to class.

It was not that we hated learning, no. We loved learning, but hated school. We absolutely hated sitting there and being programmed into becoming something we did not want to be.

They told us that if we go to school, get good grades, we will get good jobs and live happily ever after. But now we know this is a lie. We know, now, that living a successful, happy and fulfilled life is not guaranteed by schooling. We have seen enough unhappy and miserable educated people to prove this point

We are now facing the stark reality that what we were taught in school cannot help us in life. The school system has failed us, especially in our country; where even when you graduate with a first class, you cannot practise abroad unless you are re-trained. They are simply telling us that though the system, as it was, is faulty everywhere, ours has expired. They should know, because they gave it to us.

The school curricular do not teach real life lessons. And this is what The First Baba Isa University Of Success is designed to do: IMPART REAL LIFE LESSONS THAT WILL CAUSE PEOPLE TO SUCCEED!

SUCCESS PHILOSOPHY
Our success philosophy sprouts from our definition of success. We define and measure success in the following ways: Financial Prosperity; Fulfilled Relationships; Optimum Health; Productive Faith in God; Secured Future.

We also believe that any pursuit and attainment of success MUST be without offence to God and injury to man. It is for the realization of this kind of success that The FBI University is designed.

VISION
To help everyone succeed and be the very best that they can be.

MISSION
To inspire and cause the pursuit and attainment of success, through the impartation of life lessons.

OBJECTIVES

1. To impart relevant life lessons. And the relevancy of such lessons will be determined by the participant not the mentor.

2. TO create systems that will bring real people who have dealt with real life issues and succeed in real life to impart life lessons to others trying to find their way in that area; not to show them the way but to help them find their own way.

3. To make the impartation and imbibing of life lessons fun, exciting and enriching.

OUR VALUES – WHAT WE BELIEVE.

1. We believe that humans can achieve anything they set their minds to achieve.

2. We believe that the human mind is a material to be set ablaze not an empty container to be filled.

3. We believe that the school system as we have it was designed for the Agrarian age and Industrial age and that it is no longer relevant or useful in our age – the Information age.

4. We believe that both the content of the information and the method of delivering such information in the school system need a total over-hauling to be effective. And this is what The FBI University seeks to do.

5. We believe that Life gives her tests before her lessons, that is why we are seeking to learn from those who have taken both the tests and the lessond before Life hands us our own test in any particular area.

6. We believe that you cannot teach a person anything; you can only help him find it within himself.

OUR STRATEGY

• The world is our classroom and technology has created a meeting point. The FBI University operates basically online; it has kick-started full operations as a Facebook group. Operations on our own site will commence presently.

• Each week, a mentor shall be chosen by the Vision Chancellor’s [VC] office and presented to the Icons. This mentor shall be responsible for leading discussion on a particular life issue for that week.

• The mentor shall be given administrative rights for that week to enable him post on the university’s wall. Icons shall contribute to the discussions through comments –like contributions, suggestions, questions, etc - under the mentor’s post[s].

• This discussion shall run from 1:00am on Monday-10:00pm on Thursday. On Friday, 9:00pm, the University shall harmonise the thoughts on the discussion and produce a BLUEPRINT.

• The BLUEPRINT shall contain the main points of the discussions and a step-by-step methodology of how to apply the life lessons on our real life issues and make it work.

• Strategies, systems and methods shall be evolved from time to time to impart life lessons.

ORGANOGRAM

THE VISION CHANCELLOR [VC]

The VC is the visioner, initiator and founder of First Baba Isa University Of Success. He shall be a member of all classes, faculties, assemblies, colleges, etc. The Vision Chancellor shall be at the fore front of policies, strategies and programmes formulation and implementation; monitoring and overseeing affairs in the University.

The following directors work in the VC’s office: Director of Finance, Director of Special Duties, Director of Events, Director of Change/Innovation, Director of Research/Library; others in this office are Chief of Staff to the VC, PA to the VC and SA to the VC.

COLLEGE OF DEANS
For effective mentoring, discussions and impartation of life lessons the University shall have the following deaneries:
1. Peak Performance Deanery
2. Leadership Deanery
3. Business/Money-Making Deanery
4. Relationship Deanery
5. Purpose Discovery/Delivery Deanery
6. Talent-Hunt Deanery
7. Lifestyle Deanery
8. Overcoming Adversity Deanery
9. Humanity Improvement Deanery

Each of these deaneries shall be headed by a life expert in that field.

HALL OF ROLE MODELS
Persons whose lives exemplify success and excellence in any endeavor will be inducted into the Hall of Role Models. This will form a class of Role Models and a body of Inspirers and Motivators that Icons can emulate and learn from.
Membership is honorary and intending inductees must pass through the University Role Models vetting system that must find them qualified and worthy of emulation in major areas of life.

ASSEMBLY OF ACHIEVERS
Persons, especially Icons, who have internalised the ideals of UniFBI, [taken the life lessons from our discussions and work with it], with real life results to show for it, will be inducted into this group, celebrated and held up for emulation. The main difference between members of this group and members of the Hall of Role Models will be the spread of their impact.

CLASS OF THINKERS
This is the heartbeat of the university. It is the university think-tank. Members of the Class of Thinkers are result-oriented, creative thinkers, problem-solvers and solution manufacturers. Members of the Class of Thinkers are a select group of highly cerebral individuals with positive and iconoclastic mindsets.

The University shall, periodically, present to this group societal and humanity problems for them to think up a solution. Members of this group are forbidden to mention or talk about a problem without immediately proffering a solution. Membership to this distinguished group is based on very high merit.

FACULTY OF MENTORS
People who have led weekly discussions in the university automatically become members of this group. Mentors are people who have succeeded in dealing with real life issues. They can be drawn from the Hall of Role Models, College of Deans, Assembly of Achievers and Class of Thinkers.

MISCELLANEOUS

ADDRESS/SALUTATION
Members of the university shall fondly address each other as Icons. This can also be done with the first name or with the full names. E.g. Icon John, Icon Patience, or Icon John Idu; Icon John Peters Idu, Icon Patience Bassey or just simply Icon. This applies to all members of the university in whatever capacity.

Additionally, members of the Hall of Role Models can be respectfully addressed as Role Models [or Models], members of the Class of Thinkers as Thinkers, members of the Assembly of Achievers as Achievers, members of the College of Deans as Deans and members of the Faculty of Mentors as Mentors.

This is not a hard and fast rule and strict compliance is not required. This is just designed to add to the fun of being a member of this unique system.
